The ‘Brooklyn Evolution’ project was borne from local community pressure over many years about dust, odour and noise impacts from the Brooklyn Industrial Precinct. The community had lost confidence in the planning system and was increasingly frustrated with the lack of action by State and local Government.
The Heyfield Structure Plan, developed and completed by Meinhardt’s planning team in partnership with Wellington Shire Council, presents a vision for the future growth and development of the town. It identifies the roles and functions of different areas from a land use perspective and broadly identifies where future housing, population, retail and industry growth will be best located. The Structure Plan will lead to changes to the Wellington Planning Scheme, as well as future capital works and economic development initiatives.
The scheme had seen more than 5 years of false starts under numerous developers before Stamford Project Group took on development of the site to provide 122 grand tower apartments and 5 statement terraces rising gracefully above select commercial and retail space at street level.
Meinhardt Façade has worked in collaboration with builder Grocon and façade contractor Material Fabrication to help the Dandenong Government Services Office (GSO) development receive the first 6 Star Green Star – Office Design v3 rating in the area.
